The future of Ukrainian children continues to be jeopardised by the war.
Displacement has had a significant impact on education service delivery, along with damage and destruction of educational facilities. As of May 6, 2022, according to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MoES), 1,635 schools and universities (5% of total) have been damaged from the war and 126 have been destroyed.
It is estimated that over 25,000 educators (6% of total educators in Ukraine) have fled overseas. Although online platforms exist for school aged children the uptake has been static. There continues to be a large gap of education services for younger children (preschool to 4th year).
This is an issue that we feel needs to be addressed to ensure long term survival of Ukraine and its culture. We are establishing contact with refugee centres and schools to provide assistance with educational resources.
